Trend Spotting: Pet Grooming at Home
Just as we take the time to preen and perfect our own ‘dos, our pets, (a.k.a. our fur babies), should be due the same TLC. But taking your pets to a professional groomer every time they’re due for a cut can be time consuming, not to mention pricey! Keep reading for our tips on how how to groom your pets, DIY-style.
Purchase the right materials
In addition to pet-intended nail clippers, and dental maintenance supplies, you may also want to invest in a professional-level trimming kit, such as the ConairPet. The ConairPet set is comprised of 19 pieces, including multiple heads, so you can groom to varying lengths, (for example, shorter in the summertime, and longer in the winter), a cleaning brush, and small cordless model for tough-to-reach areas, such as around the neck, ears, and underbelly.
Brush them regularly
Haircuts aside, brushing your pet regularly is a great way to keep the shedding to a minimum, and upkeep your pet’s appearance on a daily basis and in a more manageable way. Plus, many pets actually enjoy the massage-like feeling of being gently brushed. Don’t forget to check for ticks and other inconsistencies as you brush!
Opt for a pet-friendly shampoo
Just as our shampoo is specially formulated for human skin, pet shampoo is specially formulated for pet skin and fur. Look for a ph-balanced formula, and if you’re having trouble enticing your pet into the bath, use toys to coax him or her. Don’t forget to rinse thoroughly to avoid skin irritation.
