Water Proof Laminate Flooring
Carpet is a big investment, so you want to make sure you choose a brand that’s trustworthy and a product that will endure. On this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Evelyn Janz of Curtis Carpets and Mandy chat about the many features of laminate flooring, including the new water proof technology.
Mandy: Hey guys, I’m here at Curtis Carpets with Evelyn and we are talking laminate flooring. Now, Evelyn, you’re telling me a little bit what makes this flooring so special.
Evelyn Janz: So, laminate is a great option for durability. Okay, so, we would ask the questions do you have pets or kids. It’s also very cost effective. So, it’s very durable, it’s very hard to scratch or mark up the floor. Also cost effective. So, when you choose a laminate with embossing or a beveled edge it looks a lot like hardwood without paying the price of hardwood.
Mandy: Okay, fantastic, so why would you go with a laminate over a vinyl?
Evelyn Janz: So, laminate just will give you that extra durability. Laminate will be a little bit more cost effective as well.
Mandy: Perfect, now we were talking a little bit about waterproof. And that’s a new thing.
Evelyn Janz: With new technology, they’ve been able to put a waterproof technology on the laminate product. So, normally, a traditional laminate would be waterproof on the center portion of the board; however, if water is left soaking in the seams, that’s what it’ll bubble and that’s where it will swell. So, several of these companies will have a minimum 72 hour-water protection, some will be 96 hours, and then some have actually 10-year water protection. So, you get the best of both worlds.
