Wedding Backdrop Ideas
Are you or someone you know getting married in the near future? In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Try This, Event Planner and DecDecorator Rick Mayhew shares some ideas for creating the perfect wedding backdrop.
Why do you need a backdrop?
In the format of a wedding, a backdrop can serve a range of purposes. A backdrop can disguise your environment and give you a better variety of options for photographs, it can serve as a focal point, and it can serve to compliment the bride and groom’s outfits when places behind the head table.
What are backdrops typically made of?
Backdrops can be made of anything from flowers to crystal to textured fabrics. You can also do a simple, seamless, one-color backdrop, using a bolt of quality fabric. Another popular idea is a drapery backdrop.
What are some tips to creating a unique and appropriate backdrop for your wedding?
- Coordinate the colors and materials used in your backdrop with the outfits of the wedding party. What you want to avoid is a backdrop that is too matchy or clashes with the outfits of the bride, groom, and their respective parties.
- You can also consider different structures and shapes for your backdrop. For example, if you’re having an outdoor wedding and you already have a beautiful view, consider a backdrop that is simply an embellished frame, so that the view is not blocked.
- Finally, though you want your backdrop to stand out, you always want it to mesh well with the rest of your decor.
