In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Mandy sits down with Dave Pollock to talk about his business, Well Refined Renovations.
Mandy: I’m here with Dave from Well Refined Renovations and we’re in a beautiful office space. Dave, tell me what you guys came in and did here?
Dave: Well, this was basically an open space so we met with the owners, Kyle and Dave, regarding their space and our designers came in and we developed this space for them. So, you walked in it was just your typical industrial wide open, bare bones, industrial space. We developed the offices with the glass. I think there’s 10 to 12 offices. We developed the reception area.
Mandy: I love this backdrop with the barn wood. It’s very nice, it’s very classy, but it’s also professional looking.
Dave: Absolutely, there’s extra space in the back for their workers. We developed the board room for them and we also develop the kitchen space.
Mandy: Fantastic. So, you do the office renovations. Let’s talk about going into people’s homes. What are you finding is the biggest thing when you’re sitting down with a client that they should be aware of starting a renovation?
Dave: First one is definitely budget. Do your research check on budgets because budgets are really important. We have so much we need to work with, so we have to have proper budgets.
Mandy: What do you find is the biggest thing people are doing with their kitchen renovations?
Dave: By far it’s opening up the walls and making open concept kitchens to make it more modern and increase the space. A lot of people nowadays don’t use the dining room as much anymore, so they’re using the kitchen as a space to mingle and eat and have breakfast. So, they’re going with bigger islands and opening up the space.
Mandy: What are you seeing in regards to lighting and cabinetry?
Dave: Well, a lot of people are going with painted cabinets. So, we’re getting away from maple and oak. And then for lighting a lot of pendant lights and a lot of pot lights fantastic and sometimes under cabinet lighting depending on what the customer wants or not.
