Upcycled Kid’s Clothes Fashion Show
It’s a known fact that kids are hard on their clothing. To boot, they grow out of clothing so fast. In this fashion-themed episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, DIY Fashion Expert Jody Leoppky shows viewers how to create upcycled clothes for kids.
Upcycling a too-short-long sleeve
As your child grows, you will likely find yourself with long sleeve shirts that have nothing wrong with them besides too-short sleeves. Jody suggests turning those too-short-long sleeves into t-shirts. Simply cut the sleeves off using an existing t-shirt as a guide. You can then use the extra fabric to create creative detailing to sew onto the shirt, such as bows. TIP If you’re not skilled at sewing, you can also use fabric glue.
Upcycling a stained shirt
If your child has a shirt with a stain on it, you can upcycle it by cutting a creative design where the stain happens to be. You can then have your child layer the cutout shirt over another shirt, to cover them up and create a stylish layered, contrasting look. To change the look, simply change up the under-shirt.
Upcycling multiple shirts
If you have a bunch of old shirts that either don’t fit anymore or have been stained or rip, you can use them all together to create a pencil skirt. Simply cut strips out of your old shirts and sew them together to create a pencil skirt, using an existing skirt to determine the size and silhouette. For the waistband, use elastic or a drawstring.
