Choose comfort over style
As a rule of thumb when shopping for underwear, always opt for comfort over style. Doing this will ensure you have underwear in your roster that you will be inclined to wear on a regular basis.
Choose undergarments based on your lifestyle
Do you dress up and go out a lot? Do you wear a lot of spandex? Do you go to the gym regularly? All of these questions and more should inform the underwear you buy. For instance, if you tend to go out a lot, you might want to buy underwear that is sleek and can be work under form-fitting clothing. If you like to wear dresses, you might want to buy full coverage underwear. If you gym, opt for underwear with plenty of stretch and not a lot of seams.
Avoid shopping while bloated
How you look in underwear can drastically affect your self-esteem. If you’re feeling bloated for any reason, you might want to skip underwear shopping that day. Keep in mind that there can be harsh lighting in dressing rooms, so be kind to yourself throughout the try-on process.
When in doubt, size up not down
If you’re stuck between two sizes, opt for the size up, which will be more comfortable than if you were to size down. To boot, a bigger size will likely be more flattering.
Don’t overdo it
Depending on how often you tend to do laundry, you might not need dozens of undergarments in your closet. Many of us tend to buy a lot and wear a few staple items on a day-to-day basis, so make sure you are considering this fact before you schedule your shopping trip.
