Flooring: What Not to Get
Many of us know what kinds of flooring we like the best, but what about the flooring options that are a little less redeemable? Today on The Marc and Mandy Show, Zain Peerani from Peerani’s Flooring gives expert advice on what flooring not to use.
Flooring Tip #1: Avoid short and narrow plank flooring
Why: The main issue with short and narrow plank flooring is that it showcases the breaks between the planks rather than the color and finish. When you install flooring, you want to opt for wider and longer planks, which will effectively showcase the color and finish that you have so carefully selected.
Flooring Tip #2: Avoid dark color flooring
Why: Dark color flooring is less optimal because it can be a bit of a hassle to maintain the look of dark flooring. Dark flooring tends to show dirt, dust, and scratches more so than light toned flooring. Light toned flooring will not only be less of a hassle to maintain, but it will serve to brighten up your entire space.
Flooring Tip #3: Avoid high gloss, shiny flooring
Why: Much like dark colored flooring, high-gloss flooring can be something of a nightmare to maintain. With high-gloss flooring, any scratches or wear and tear would be visible from a mile away, so it’s best to opt for low-gloss and matte finishes. You can even consider something with a hand scrape or a wire brush finish.
Flooring Tip #4: Avoid clearance items and limited quantity products
Why: It’s best to avoid clearance items and limited quantity products because, in the event that your flooring sustains any damage and you find yourself needing to replace a plank or two, it will be near impossible to find an exact match if the item has been discontinued for whatever reason.
