Expert Q&A: Curly Hair
If you have or have worked with curly hair, you’ll know that the saying “curly hair, don’t care” is fundamentally flawed. Curly hair requires more maintenance and TLC than any other hair type. If you find yourself struggling with caring for your own curly hair, you’ve come to the right place. In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Kim Dykstra of Coco’s Hair and Beauty Bar shares hair care tips for curly hair. Keep reading for the expert Q & A.
Q: What are the best products for curly hair?
Kim Dykstra: The best product for curly hair would be something that has a humectant in it, is not too heavy, and the more natural ingredients involved would be the best for curly hair. Something that’s going to hold the moisture in.
Q: How often should I wash my curly hair?
Kim Dykstra: You should wash your curly hair when you feel you should. Curly hair generally is dryer hair that wants moisture. Typically, curly haired girls will wash their hair every three to four days. The less often you wash, the less dry your hair is going to be, and the better that will be for your hair. Mind you, your products will work best if you start off with clean hair.
Q: How often should I get my curly hair cut?
Kim Dykstra: You should be getting your hair cut every two to three months. If you color your hair, it should be every two months. If you don’t color your hair, you can go three months, if you’re growing your hair out.
