How To Pull Off 2016’s Bright Hair Colour Trend at Work
It takes serious guts—or major celebrity—to pull off shocking hair colour, like the pinkish-lavender shade that Katy Perry rocked at the VMAs. If you’re fair, try pastels like pinks, light to medium purples, or light blues. If your complexion is darker, try rich jewel tones such as emerald green, deep purple, or even dark wine. If your skin tone is medium, try to pick shades that flatter your natural hair color. If you’re ready to try a bright colour but are worried about being office-appropriate, here are a few, colourful hair trends that will work for you!
Bangs:
You can try to dye just on the lower layers of your bangs, so the colour is just barely noticeable. Adding just a hint of colour will give you a fresh look while maintaining a professional image.
Ponytail:
Try to dye one piece of hair from the underside of your hair, between the ear and the nape of the neck. It is hidden, except for when you pull your hair back into a ponytail; a great office-appropriate option.
Extensions:
For the most temporary pop of colour, try colouring your extensions. Runway models did it and it looked fantastic. To copy the trend, try putting your extensions in the back of your hair, under the top layer, so the colour just peaks out. Again, office-appropriate.
Streaks:
If you want to look edgier, go for highly visible streaks of colour—just don’t go overboard. Too many streaks won’t work—it looks bad, so stick with two or three. Try placing one streak by your face and one or two in the back of the head. Just be sure they are not symmetrical. That’s just not cool or edgy.
