Balancing Masculine and Feminine Design
When designing a master bedroom (or any space) you want your space to a reflection of both yours and your partner’s distinctive design styles and preferences. For some, this means finding a balance between masculine and feminine decor. In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Designer Angie Spearing of Windows of Fashion & Surroundings shows Marc how to balance masculine and feminine design in decor and harmoniously decorate with your significant other.
Mix Colors
You want to make sure you have a blend of plenty of soft, feminine colors, (for example, blush pink and beige), and darker, moodier colors, (for example, dark brown, charcoal, and black). If you and your SO have other color preferences, make sure your room’s color scheme reflects both. A patterned wallpaper, which incorporates a few different colors, is a bold way to integrate both masculine and feminine colors.
Statement Artwork
Another way to incorporate masculine and feminine colors is via artwork. This is also a chance to incorporate texture into your space. Think: wall art made of reclaimed wood.
Fabrics
Fabrics are another way to introduce different energies into your space. Florals, embroidery, and velvet tend to be more feminine, while leather is more masculine. For a good balance, consider florals in a darker color or leather in a lighter, softer hue.
