Mandy: Now, Jason, hypnotism is something that has always fascinated me. Did you wake up one day and realize you could make your friends do whatever you wanted?
Jason Cyrus: Well, I was always a good influencer. My mom said I had this special gift ever since I came out of the womb. But I come from an entertainment family; my dad was a country music singer. I always loved magic and illusions and things like that, and I saw a couple hypnotists at an event, and I was so fascinated by what the person did, I said, ‘I got to try that.’ So, I immediately went to the library, got some books, and I became the number one hit at any party. From there, I saw the fun that I could have with it, and then I really immersed myself into the art.
Mandy: Is it an illusion? Is it real?
Jason Cyrus:Yes, of course. You know, a lot of times people think it’s fake and that I’m flying there with 25 people. But all hypnosis is, is the conscious mind versus the unconscious. A conscious mind, or analytical mind, holds a limited amount of information per second. Then we have the unconscious mind, which holds three million to 20 million bits of information per second. That’s the automatic part of our minds; for example, our heartbeat and our blood flow. A lot of people are ignorant to what hypnosis really is, but I give such a good explanation on stage. People are comfortable and we keep our shows family-friendly.

I have thought about being hypnotized but always worry that I would do something really stupid while under. I’ve been to a few shows but never gone on stage. This was a good interview and who knows I just may get up the nerve one of these days.
