How to Create a Romantic Pineapple Themed Table for Date Night
If you’re fresh out of romantic ideas for date night, or you’re simply on a tight budget, event designer, Rick Mayhew is here to save the day! Mayhew divulges some of his professional expertise as he shows us how to create a gorgeous, romantic – (not to mention, fun and unique) – tablescape for date night, without breaking the bank.
Color scheme
If you’re planning a romantic date night for your wife, she might appreciate a simple and classically romantic color scheme, such as pink and white. The combination of pink and white screams romance, in addition to being somewhat tropically-inspired, pulling inspiration from Hawaiian leis. If your SO isn’t a big fan of white, you can supplement with other tropically-inspired hues of your choosing, such as yellow, orange, turquoise, or even sky blue.
Appetizers
In keeping with the tropical theme, Mayhew suggest a somewhat unusual – but nonetheless, tasty – appetizer: bacon-wrapped pineapple. To whip up some bacon-wrapped pineapple at home, pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F/175 degrees C, wrap each piece of pineapple in a piece of bacon, secure each piece with a toothpick, and bake in the oven until crispy, for about 20-25 minutes. If you and your SO are not fans of bacon, opt to dip pineapple pieces in chocolate sauce instead.
Centerpiece
Speaking of pineapples, Mayhew has designed a unique centerpiece for his tablescape, using not much more than a hollowed-out pineapple, metallic spray paint, and pink and white flowers. To achieve the look, simply spray paint a hollowed-out pineapple, then use it as you would a vase in the centre of the table. Very creative, contemporary, and cute!
Personal Touches
Since Mayhew’s tablescape is tropically-inspired, he pulled various elements from the outdoors, such as flower petals, large green leaves, and pinecones.
