Prepare Ahead
Since you’re working the short attention span of kids, you want to make sure you have your supplies and maybe even your measurements sorted out ahead of time. Creating a work station for them where they can see all the supplies and ingredients will help your kids to get excited and stay engaged and interested.
Give Kids Freedom
Another way to get your kids excited about baking, is by letting them choose the recipe. If they’re on the young side, select a few recipes ahead of time and let them choose between those.
Excuse The Mess
While it can be tempting to fuss over the mess made when baking with kids, try to leave the cleanup until the end. Get your kids to help out with the cleanup to teach them important life skills. If you’re really worried about a mess, lay out a disposable or machine washable table cloth.
Don’t Worry About Looks
No matter what what your kids create, reinforce a job well done with plenty of compliments and encouragement. Doing this could mean the difference between losing interest in baking and wanting to bake again.
