Dealing with Holiday Stress
‘Tis the season to be… stressed? The holiday season is supposed to be full of laughter, happiness, and fun; however, for most people this isn’t the case. In this holiday segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Life Coach Crystal Thompson joins Mandy on set to discuss holiday stress and how to deal with it.
You Are What You Eat
Christmas parties are notorious for having unhealthy spreads. And while it may be tempting to resort to food to get through holiday-related stress, overeating and eating unhealthily can result in bad feelings later on. Crystal’s recommendation: consider how you want to feel at the end of your holiday festivities, and plan your food and drink choices based on that feeling. For example, if you want to feel in control and empowered at the end of your festivities, opt for moderation and health-conscious choices.
You Are What You Drink
The same goes for drinks, alcoholic or otherwise. Sugary, alcoholic beverages may taste great going down, but are bound to make you feel sluggish and moody the next day. Alternatively, abstaining from heavy drinking will make you feel in control and empowered. If you intend on consuming some alcohol to celebrate the holidays, ensure you are countering it with plenty of water and hearty foods. Keep in mind: the more sugar you eat and drink, the worse you’re bound to feel later on.
