Discovering The Pet Cremation Process
On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Jamie Hanel from Pet Heaven Crematorium and Funeral Chapel explains how they do cremation for pets.
Q: What are the options available to families in need of pet cremation?
Jamie Hanel: So, there are a few options. Families can always bring their pets to us themselves or we can pick up the pet at their home or a vet office. And once the pet gets here people are allowed to spend time with their pet. We have a family room and we can arrange for cremation within the same day. There are two types of cremations. One is a private cremation. That’s where we do your pet all by himself and return the cremated remains the next day. We also do something called a communal cremation. And that’s where a group of animals are done together, very respectfully still, but the cremated remains are not returned to the families. They’re scattered in a private field and we do that ourselves. There’s a lot of ways to memorialize your pet. There’s urns and keepsake items. That means like maybe a small urn and you scatter the rest. There’s also jewelry that can be made from their cremated remains. Glass blowing is a popular item.
