Expert Q&A: HVAC Care
How much do you know about HVAC systems and their maintenance? In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Expert Q & A, Mike Grochmal, President of Atlas Care, answers questions about HVAC care.
Q: Which season is the best time of year for getting my HVAC system tuned up?
Mike Grochmal: People always want to know what the best time of year is to get their furnace and air conditioning systems maintained. We recommend that it’s done on an annual basis and not particularly at any time of the year. Just make sure that you have a professional come and look it over, so that you and your family can be safe at home.
Q: My AC unit’s been acting up, should I fix it or get a new one?
MG: A common question we get is, “Should I repair or or replace my current HVAC unit?” There are four factors that you need to take into consideration.
- How costly is the repair?
- How old is the equipment? (At a certain point it’s not going to be worth repairing.)
- What are your plans for the home? (Are you selling the home tomorrow or are you planning on staying put for years to come?)
- How are your utility bills? (Old or outdated units might be costing you on your monthly bills, while new units tend to be more environmentally friendly.)
