In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show: Expert Q & A, Contractor and HGTV Host Kenny Gemmill of Kits Construction shares some great tips for buying and selling your home.
Q: What are some easy weekend projects that can refresh a home?
Kenny Gemmill: At this time of the year, some projects are usually outside. You can pressure wash the exterior of your home, including the siding or your deck. Paint is another project that you can do in a weekend. So, I would suggest giving your place a little sprucing up with some washing and some paint.
Q: What problems do you often run into when renovating a bathroom?
Kenny Gemmill: I mean, the bathroom is the smallest room in the house, but the most decision that have to be made for renovations. So, first of all, it’s nice to have the space. That seems to be the problem with bathrooms; everyone wants to have a bigger one. So, space is a problem. But if you get the space, then it’s actually getting all the decisions put into one little spot.
Q: What are the most important things to look for in a fixer uper home?
Kenny Gemmill: When looking for a fixer upper home, the one thing I always tell my customers is to look for something that already has the space. Because adding space to a home is expensive. So, try to stay within the envelope and buy a fixer upper that already has the space.
