Expert Q&A with Army Roofing
Roofing is an inarguably important element of any structure, but how much do you know actually know about the roof over your head? Today on The Marc and Mandy Show, Gerald Pinder from Army Roofing answers questions about roof quality. Keep reading for the expert-approved Q&A.
Q: What’s the best type of shingle I can get for my roof?
Gerald Pinder: It comes down to budget and style. No one shingle in particular is better than another and cheaper price does not necessarily mean cheaper quality. What it really comes down to is the person installing your roof.
Q: How do you know what an asphalt shingle roof needs replacing?
GP: Usually, it’s fairly obvious. If you see any missing granules, cracks, or even curling shingles, it’s probably time to call a contractor.
Q: When do I have to use ice and water shielding on my roof?
GP: Ice and water shielding is typically used on low-slope roofs and areas where ice damning is a problem. It also creates a gasket around the nail heads and protrusions.
Q: How many vents should I have on my roof?
GP: The amount of vents that you will need on your roof is really dependant on the square footage of your roof and your attic space. They allow hot, moist air to escape, creating an equilibrium between the temperature on the inside of your attic and the outside, increasing the longevity of your roof.
