Mandy: I’m here with Julian from GoliathTech Piles, and we’re talking some alternatives to your traditional cement piles. With summer coming up, people are building decks. Tell me how piles can help in this process?
Julian Reusing: In the old days, you used to dig a hole, you would fill that hole with cement, and would you have to call a city inspector to measure the depth of the hole. And then, you would call a cement truck who would fill the hole, and then you would put a wooden post into that, and then you’d build your decking structure on that. Now, with helical piles, the way we do it and the way the industry has shifted is with a small mini excavator. It’s a machine with a very light footprint. They’ll drive right up into the backyards of homes and they’ll drill. What would take three four five days of process in the cement world we can set up an entire deck in literally under an hour.
Mandy: That’s incredible. So, it really speeds up the construction process.
Julian Reusing: Yes, that’s a major advantage. And and the other thing is you don’t have to wait for the cement to dry. You can build immediately. So, with a helical pile, we can literally show up with a pickup and a trailer pulling the mini excavator as well as all the piles that you would need to put in to do your decking job, for example, and with a very light footprint.
