He Said, She Said: Should You Rent a Cabin?
On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Marc and Mandy debate about the pros and cons of renting a cabin for family holidays. To hear what they have to say on the matter, check out the video above, or keep reading for some tips on getting the most out of your cabin weekend.
Book early
As with booking any vacation, there are popular seasons and timing is key. If you can, try to plan and book your cabin rental a year in advance. On the other hand, if you’re travelling somewhere with plenty of rental supply, waiting until last minute could mean snagging yourself a last minute price reduction.
Understand terminology
For instance, there’s a difference between “beachfront” and “oceanfront.” Make sure you know what you’re looking for well before you book.
Beware of scams
The internet is usually the go-to place to search for cabin rentals, but the internet is full of too-good-to-be-true offers that could end up being scams. To avoid such scams, make sure you are searching for rentals on reputable sites with plenty of reviews from past renters. Another great way to make sure you are getting a good deal is by using recommendations from friends and family who have rented cabins before.
Stay away from tourist traps
To get the best bang for your buck, stay away from touristy areas. Instead, look for rentals that may be a little further from popular tourist destinations, but offer more in terms of size and amenities, for a better price. Look for rentals that are close to highways and public transit, so that those touristy areas are still accessible to you.
