Pay attention to your curb appeal
Though your home is your business, the way your home looks from the outside can affect the overall aesthetic, and sometimes even the value, of your entire neighborhood. At the very least, ensure you are keeping up with your outdoor maintenance tasks, such as lawn mowing, weeding, landscaping, and repairing peeling paint. In the wintertime, mind safety of your neighbors and passersby by keeping your walkways free of snow and ice.
Mind property lines
Your property line divides your property from your neighbors. If you’re unsure of where your property stops, you can find out via your property deed or by inquiring with a property surveyor or assessor. If you’re going to do anything that will affect your neighbor’s literal property, ensure you are letting them know and asking permission. This includes building a fence on the dividing line between properties.
Mind your noise
A big part of being a good neighbor is being aware of how your actions might affect your neighbors. This includes noise. Be especially mindful of noise late at night and early in the morning. Be particularly aware of things like pets, music, and loud appliances, which can quickly become a source of tension between neighbors.
