Location. When you’re mapping out where you’d like your fireplace to be, consider proximity to surrounding structures. The chimney on a wood burning fireplace needs to be at least ten feet away from any combustibles.
Longevity. How long do you want your new fireplace to last? A forever fireplace can be built using 100 percent masonry, and can encompass a cinderblock structure, filled with concrete, with full bed natural stone cladding. A fireplace built like this will last generations. Less durable and more cost-effective fireplace renditions might use stick frame or steel frame structure, clad with artificial stone veneer.
