Properly Applying Blush
In the realm of makeup, blush is one of those products that looks a lot easier to apply properly than it actually is. While makeup artists may make the application of blush look as easy as a stroke of a brush, there’s definitely a technique to it. Keep reading for our expert tips.
Step 1: Collect Your (Correct) Tools
Blush brushes differ from other makeup brushes in that they have a rounded or angled top. This unique element to the brush is far from arbitrary; they are strategically designed to contour to the curves of the face.
Step 2: Identify the Cheekbone
A quick trick to identify your cheekbones is by sucking in your cheeks and making a fishy-esq face. Along the bridge of the bone, on either side of the face, is where you should begin applying blush.
Step 3: Apply
You want to apply blush in an upward and downward motion, diagonally, following the cheekbones. The tip of your brush should always be pointing up.
Step 4: Touch Up
Applying too much blush to the face is far from a rare occurrence; luckily, we have a quick fix! Using a foundational powder and a clean brush, buff the entire cheek in a round motion, working your way upwards. This technique should remove excess blush and blend what remains into the skin for an even, flawless finish.
