Renovating the Kitchen with Paint
Paint is one of the most cost-effective and user-friendly ways to renovate your home. On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Thoma Doehring shares how to renovate the kitchen on a budget with paint.
Change Your Perspective
It’s a little bit hard to be objective when you’re in a space all of the time. Thoma suggests taking a photograph of your kitchen prior to deciding on paint color(s), so that you have the opportunity to view the space from a more objective vantage point.
Faux Built-Ins
Perhaps you wanted a more seamless looking fridge, but there’s a cupboard in the way that’s going to restrict you. One way to fake a built-in fridge is by custom making a fridge that will be painted in the same color as your cabinetry, giving it a blended, built-in look.
Get Creative With Unused Space
Perhaps you have a microwave that sits on a shelf in your kitchen, which you really don’t get much use of. If you can replace your microwave with a toaster oven or conventional oven, consider taking it out completely, inserting a few dividers into the shelving space where the microwave used to be, painting the dividers to match the existing cabinetry, and recreating the space as a wine storage area.
Go Color Bold
The color you choose for your kitchen cabinetry doesn’t necessarily have to blend with the other colors in your kitchen and visa versa. The island can be an accent color. Or alternatively, if you don’t have an island, your bottom cabinets can be an accent color.
I want to renovate my kitchen in the Spring and I will definitely use these ideas.
