Achieving Happiness
Are you at home feeling a little unhappy? Here is life coach Reno Johnston to share some of the secrets to success. What does it take to be happy? There is something to be said about appreciating life with all the emotions and the cards that it deals you. On a deeper level, we are seeking fulfillment even more than happiness. We need to be aware of that and appreciate all of life’s moments with ‘’its message and its mess, its testimony and its test’’ as Reno likes to say.
One strategy to achieve happiness as quickly as possible is to make a list of things that make you happy. We will often have a bad moment and then focus on that one event that will ruin our entire day. The trick is writing that list and getting clear on what makes you happy, allowing you to step into creating those moments in your life.
Reno shares that typically when we experience unhappiness, it is because we are in our heads, that we think that life should be other than what it actually is. He suggests just honoring the moment you are in and uses this beautiful, meaningful expression ‘’to get out of your head and into life’’. That could be volunteering, dancing, or picking up the phone and connecting with a friend. Reno recommends getting off social media to get out of our heads in order to get real with ourselves. He states we are all suffering from a whole imposter complex where we see all this pretty stuff on social media but it is not real life. We are constantly exposed to the unrealistic, ‘’perfect’’ photoshopped world of social media. Real life is waking up late, burning the bacon, getting ketchup on your shirt just before running out for an important interview. You must be able to laugh at those moments and accept that life is not perfect.
