Set a sleep schedule
While the summer months may have given rise to late bedtimes and wakeup times, you should start getting your kids into a school-friendly sleep schedule around two weeks before they head back to school.
Encourage them to read
Since your kids have likely taken it easy over the summertime, it might be hard for them to get back into the swing of academia. Getting them to read a book or two before school starts is a good way to get them into the swing of concentrating. You can even have them write up a book report so that they are working on their writing skills as well as their reading skills.
Encourage them to plan
To get them excited about school, invest in some new supplies, including a day planner, which they can use to get themselves organized. Have them put together a rough outline of their school and activity schedules.
Establish screen time rules
Perhaps you were a little more relaxed about screen time over the summer months, so it’s important to establish new and improved screen time rules to be followed during the school week and weekend.
Have them help out with meal planning
Finally, get your kids involved in their own lunches by having them make up weekly meal plans and getting them to help with the grocery shopping and meal prep. This will teach them valuable life skills and ease the burden on mom or dad to get lunches ready every day.
