Continental Dance Club
In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Yvonne Whelan visits Brian Torner at the Continental Dance Club to learn more about it’s great history and what it has to offer. To hear what Brian has to say about his history and the history of the Continental Dance Club, check out the video above. Below, we’ve rounded up some tips if you’re a first timer interested in getting into dance.
Learn Different Types of Dance
If you’re new to dance, you likely don’t know what genre you are best at. Beyond finding something you’re strong at, you want to find something you genuinely enjoy, so take the time to learn a little about a variety of styles of dance.
Don’t Compare Yourself to Others
Especially if you’re just starting out, it can be a poisonous practice to compare your abilities to that of others. Be patient with yourself and try to focus on getting better class by class. As long as you are making progress and enjoying the process.
Allow for Mistakes
Do not go into your first class (or even second, third, and fourth etc.) with unrealistic expectations for yourself. Dancing is something that will come with plenty of perseverance and hard work. Practice makes perfect!
