Your roof is one of the most important parts of your home. As such, it’s critical to tend to your roof regularly and repair it and replace it when need be. In this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Tom Geo from answers questions about new roof installations.
Q: What’s the best time of year to have my roof replaced?
Tom Geo: Well, the best time that I would recommend for replacing your roof would probably be springtime. This way, you can avoid the backlog from contractors and probably get a quote a lot quicker. Replacing your roof in the springtime will also give your shingles the time necessary for them to set properly before the winter months.
Q: Do you recommend installing shingles in the winter?
Tom Geo: We at Mega City Roofing Inc. recommend installing shingles above 40 degrees fahrenheit or 5 degrees celcius. Any temperature below that and the shingles are more prone to breakage.
Q: What do you do if it starts raining when you’re in the middle of a roofing job?
Tom Geo: The first thing we do is stop working because it’s an unsafe working environment. The second thing we do is cover the roof to protect the plywood from swelling and to protect the interior of the home.
