Holiday Fitness Tips
In the wintertime, it can be all too easy to swap your health and fitness for days spent under a blanket on the couch. On this episode of The Marc and Mandy Show, Alka Sharma from Alka’s Total Fitness shares some tips for staying fit during the holidays.
Q: What are your tops tips for staying fit and in shape during the winter months?
Alka Sharma: Here are my five tips for staying active during the holidays. Number one is planning ahead. Planning ahead is crucial because we need to get our workouts out of the way so that we can enjoy a beautiful family meal with our loved ones. Number two is staying active. So the fitness trend now is short bursts of training. So 20 minutes is all you need when it comes to working out. So my favorite is the hip start bodyweight workouts. You could do that anywhere. So just 20 minutes. Number three is being creative. So whether that’s doing laps around the mall, whether that’s taking the stairs, as long as you’re staying active it doesn’t matter what you’re doing. Running, jogging, taking the stairs fantastic. Number four is involving family members. For the inactive members, you can set an example. Take them for a walk. It’s a beautiful time at this time of year, so get the fresh air during this holiday time. Number five is doing a fun run. So whether or not that’s being organized in your city or town, take the initiative and organize a fun run with your family and friends.
