Share the Gift of Greening with Your Kids
It’s never too early to learn about the environment and the role you play in protecting it. This season, share the gift of greening with your little ones with these tips from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.
- Head to your local bookstore for books on plants and animals found in your area. Suit up in your boots and tuque for a winter scavenger hunt through the trails around your neighbourhood.
- The gift of giving is also the gift of greening. Instead of tossing old or unused toys in the trash, encourage kids to give them a second life by donating them or organizing a toy swap.
- Grow an indoor jungle. Take the time to teach kids how things grow, whether by giving them an indoor plant to take care of or by starting seedlings that can be planted outside in the spring.
- Get kids involved in celebrating green events like Earth Day or Earth Hour with adventure packs that include board games, soy wax candles, and arts and crafts that everyone can enjoy while the lights are shut off.
