Wellness in the workplace is becoming a really hot topic. Wellness expert, Jordan Cieciwa, shares some great tips for keeping yourself well and healthy in the workplace. We want to take this battle to the workplace because work is where we are the most.
One thing to first acknowledge is that models on magazine covers are not ideal pictures of health. These images are unattainable for the average person because you’re not taking into account that that’s their sport and their whole life revolves around that physique, not health.
You’ve got the morning, the middle of the day when you’re actually at work, and then after. It’s critical to start off happy in the morning. How many people either wake up late, hit their snooze button or grab your coffee on the go? It can lead to a hectic morning and that hectic morning carries into a hectic workday. If you need to start your day properly. If you’re a jogger, start with a jog. If you are a reader, grab the newspaper, sit down with a coffee, get back to that old school, not on the iPad. Once you’ve started your day positively, you’re equipped to have a good day at work and you can go in with a smile!
Next, the mid day “blah” after lunch. Prep for the day; you’ve got to have the right food at work. Make sure that you are getting up and moving. Every hour, get up, walk around, move, drink some water. Time yourself if you have to, or set an alarm. You can work out in the morning, but if you sit all day you’re still getting those negatives of a sedentary lifestyle.
Once you’ve been active all day, you can take it home. You can be active with the family. This is what you want from a fitness standpoint. You want to be healthy. You want to be walking, holding hands with your loved ones and going and enjoying the park.
