Being in nature can have a powerful and positive effect on the mind, body, and spirit. In this segment of The Marc and Mandy Show, Marc talks about his walks in nature and the dangers he finds. Health Benefits
Exposure to nature can reduces the risk of type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, premature death, preterm birth, and high blood pressure. To add, exposure to a diverse variety of bacteria present in natural areas may also have benefits for the immune system and can help to reduce inflammation.
Mental Health
Spending time outdoors can lower the heart rate and help people to feel psychologically restores. In part, this owes to increased oxygen omitted by greenery.
Stress Reduction
Spending time in nature gives the cognitive portion of the brain a break, allowing us to focus and patience. In addition, both exercising outdoors and simply sitting looking at trees reduce blood pressure as well as the stress-related hormones cortisol and adrenaline.
Mindfulness
Spending time in nature is one way to disconnect from the unhealthy habits we tend to engage with outdoors. It can give the eyes and brain a break from our screens and the stress of work life, allowing us to simply be in the moment and be mindful.
Sleep Duration
Being in nature (and more specifically, exercising in nature), can help to positively increase circadian rhythm. Taking an evening walk, for example, can help to raise body temperature. Post-exercise, when it begins to fall, your body is signaled that it’s time to go to bed.
