Tune into the video above to join the tour or keep reading for some tips on designing a home-tour-worthy home.
Get inspired by the surroundings
Whether your home is located in the heart of a city or in the heart of nature, drawing inspiration from the surroundings is a great way to ground your design. Going this route can also create a thoughtful and intentional connection between the exterior and interior of your home.
Use art to elevate your design
Art can be used to tie a room together, express the personalities of the people living in the home, and lend the home that look and feeling of being professionally designed.
Invest in your furniture
If you’re going to invest in anything in your home, it should be your furniture. Not only does quality furniture look better, but it will last longer too. TIP If you’re working with a small space, one trick to make the space look larger is by using larger pieces of statement furniture.
Use black
Black is a powerful color in general. When it comes to interior design, black can be used to lend sophistication, add depth, or ground the rest of your design. If you’re wary of using black in a large-format way, opt for black accents instead, such as picture frames, lighting fixtures, and within artwork.
