2 Common Fitness Myths
Are you working out the right way? Alistair Hopper, fitness expert, debunks two prominent fitness myths:
Myth: Lifting weights will make a woman look muscular like a man.
Truth: The reality is that men and women are physiologically different. In addition to their metabolisms generally being higher, higher testosterone levels allow men to build muscle a lot easier compared to women. There are, in fact, a lot of benefits to resistance training for women. Resistance training will help to tone muscles and build up lean muscle, which will boost metabolism.
Myth: If you do 100 sit ups a day, you will get a six pack.
Truth: Unfortunately, it’s difficult to target just one element of your body with any exercise. Generally speaking, to achieve a six pack you’ll need to couple a healthy diet with cardiovascular training as well as resistance training.
