During the summer months, Canadians across the country are fortunate to have access to fresh and naturally sweet local berries. Whether you prefer to pick them yourself at a local farm or buy them at a farmers’ market or a fresh fruit truck on your way to the cottage, berries easily add the taste of summer to any dessert. Ideal for seasonal baking, berries are also rich in antioxidants and high in flavour.
Whether blueberries, strawberries, raspberries or prairie berries are your berry of choice, this Berry Grunt recipe will satisfy any sweet tooth and make the most of your region’s seasonal offerings. This old-fashioned dessert is similar to a cobbler, but has fluffy dumplings on top. Even better, this sweet treat can be made over the campfire or on your stove in less than half an hour helping you get back to summer fun.
