New Year’s Resolutions for Your Workplace
It doesn’t matter if you work from home or in a large office, there will be times when you are stressed. In the New Year, turn these resolution ideas into new habits to help combat stress in your workplace!
Just Let It Go:
Stress can lead to a whole host of problems for you, for your health and for your job. While you can’t avoid stress all together, you can try to limit its effect. When you start feeling stressed, take a step back and breathe for a few minutes. This will do wonders.
Do Something for You:
Resolve to set time aside for yourself every day to exercise, relax, reflect, cook a fancy dinner, eat ice cream, write in a journal, garden, walk your pet or some other activity that allows you to focus on you for a bit.
Give Yourself Credit (And Mean It!):
It is important that you recognize yourself for excellent efforts. One way to do this is to keep a file of positive notes, thank you letters and reminders of successful projects. When you have a tough day, use this file to remind yourself that you are amazing!
Learn Something:
The daily grind can be repetitive and boring. Learning something new can keep life from becoming stale and boring. This could be as simple as learning a new word every day or you could sign up for an evening course, take music lesson, learn to dance, etc. The process of learning something new engages your brain which will actually result in higher productivity and increased creativity at work as well!
Do a Good Deed:
Take a moment each day to intentionally do something nice for a coworker. Stop and say hi to someone you don’t talk too often. Leave a positive note for a colleague. Compliment someone’s outfit. These little things will brighten their day and yours as well! Plus, by making this a daily habit, you will create a habit of looking for positive things in your workplace which will improve your mood and stress level!
