Reno Johnston’s 6 Keys to Creating a Successful Mindset
Get Over Yourself
If you’re sitting here reading this right now, get over yourself. And I say that with the utmost love. Get over yourself because that’s the first issue. You are so caught up in yourself and thinking you’re not actually improving, you’re not growing. Progression is so important. It’s fundamental. If you’re not growing, you’re dying. So you need to get over yourself, and what that means is getting up, getting out, contributing to making someone else’s life better so that yours can feel better. A lot of times when people feel depressed, they’ll end up staying indoors as opposed to getting out there and then it’ll just snowball from one thing to the other. Then you’re stuck again. So it feels tough, it feels counterintuitive, just like going to the gym. It’s not easy the first or second day. Two weeks in, you got it. You got your groove going, but you’ve gotta get over yourself first.
Success is an Inside Job
Success is an inside job. What that means is, you can create the makings of success in your environment. You can get the job, the house, the girl or the boy or whatever it is, and it’s never goning to be enough, because real success begins inside. It’s doing things like meditating, words of affirmations, watching inspirational videos, getting into conversations. As they say, you can’t love someone else until you love yourself and a lot people don’t realize that. They just go from one relationship to the other and they don’t understand why it’s not working out. It’s not working out because you’re not working on yourself.
Exercise
Exercise is another big key to success. The stronger you feel in your body, the stronger your mind is going to feel. They’re connected. Everything is connected, so you want to take care of your whole being.
Be Humble
Being a teacher and a student at the same time in life, I always see an opportunity to teach someone something and to learn in the process. Being noble but humble – being a teacher and a student at the same time at all times – it keeps you balanced and grounded. You can always learn something new and people forget that so they become complacent. again it goes back to; if you’re not growing, you’re dying. You want to keep that beginner’s mindset and you always want to be learning something new.
Gratitude
Gratitude is huge. If you’re not grateful for what you have now, why do you think life is going to give you more? So get grateful.
Now Move!
Take action, that’s the biggest thing. If you’re spinning and complaining, go do something. Go do something. Get off the couch. Break your patterns and do something. Go run outside. Go spend the weekend somewhere. Do something you haven’t done before to get something that you haven’t gotten before.
