Post-Workout Smooth Recipe

Your post-workout meal should include:

  1. A lean protein source
  2. A whole grain
  3. Plenty of produce
  4. A healthy fat source
  5. Fluid

An easy way to get all five of those things in in one step is a smoothie! Try this smoothie recipe courtesy of Alistair Hopper, Winnipeg-based personal trainer for Flex Fitness:

In a blender, combine:

  • 1 cup frozen/fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen/fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup frozen/fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup frozen/fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup of (preferably freshly squeezed) lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. of freshly chopped ginger root
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 6 ice cubes

Alistair says: “The mixed berries are great for flushing the body of unwanted toxins and taking them away from the body. Ginger has several health benefits from helping with nausea, sinus colds and joint pain just to name a few.”
