‘Roll-Out’ Exercise Routines
You may know that foam rollers are great for massaging out sore and tense muscles—but did you they can be used to amp up the intensity of your daily exercise routine? Today on The Marc and Mandy Show: Try This, Fitness Expert Kathleen Trotter, author of Finding Your Fit, shows us how to incorporate a foam roller into your everyday exercise routine.
If you’re bored of basic crunches: If you’re looking for a workout to tone your core, and crunches are simply getting too monotonous, try a simple march, using a foam roller to heighten the intensity of the exercise. The key with this exercise is engaging your core to maintain your balance.
To set up this exercise: Simply place your foam roller on the floor and ensure your spinal column is aligned with the roller. Your spine should be supported by the roller and the rest of your body should be lifted off the floor.
To perform this exercise: Raise your left leg in the air, along with your right arm. Bring them both back to the floor, then raise your right leg and left arm.
To increase the intensity of this exercise: You can also hold your leg up and raise your arms alternately, or do a crunch while also doing a leg lift.
